Save Hemp. Protect Small Businesses. And Please, Don't Give Up on Your Voice.
This is bigger than hemp. It's livelihoods, communities, and the future we're building together.
If you've been following Moon Flower lately, you've probably noticed we've been talking about politics a LOT more than usual. Trust us, we'd much rather be talking about new products, our farm, or whatever fun thing we're planning next. But right now, the future of our business, and an entire industry, is facing a very real threat.
In addition to being a hemp-focused company, Moon Flower is a family-owned business built from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. What started as an idea in 2019 has grown into a company that supports our family, our employees, other small businesses, and the communities we're proud to be part of. It benefits people around the country who are looking for alternatives to alcohol and pharmaceuticals.
cough cough, this is probably why we are facing a ban
And now, we're fighting to protect everything we've worked so hard to build.
Why We're Fighting to Save Hemp
The federal hemp restrictions scheduled to take effect in December 11th 2026 threaten the future of many hemp-derived products and the businesses that make and sell them. If this ban takes place, Moon Flower will no longer be in business. For us, this isn't only a distant political debate happening in Washington, D.C. It's very very personal.
It's our farm. Our employees. Our family. Our customers. The businesses we work with. Years of hard work, financial risks, and sacrifices went into building something we genuinely believe in. And honestly, our trust in our government and our belief in the American Dream, something so many of us grew up believing was possible, has slowly started to dwindle over the past decade.
We're far from the only ones facing uncertainty. Across the country, hemp farmers, manufacturers, retailers, distributors, and countless other businesses are trying to figure out what their futures will look like. We believe hemp deserves a responsible regulatory framework that prioritizes consumer safety, transparency, testing, and age restrictions without unnecessarily eliminating responsible businesses.
That's why we created our Save Hemp page, where you can learn more about what's happening, explore ways to get involved, and find resources about the issue.
Let's Talk About Voting for a Minute.
We get it. There is nothing more exhausting than politics.
Maybe you don't trust either political party. Maybe you've voted your entire adult life and feel like nothing ever changes. Maybe you're tired of watching politicians argue while ordinary people deal with the consequences.
Those feelings are real, and you're certainly not alone in having them.
But here's a question worth asking:
What if your participation makes even the smallest difference?
Not every election produces the outcome we hope for. Not every elected official follows through on promises. And voting certainly isn't a magic solution to every problem facing our country.
But elections are one of the ways we get to participate in decisions that shape our communities, our laws, our businesses, and our futures. It's easy to feel disconnected from government until a decision made hundreds of miles away suddenly affects your everyday life.
We've experienced that firsthand.
And we've learned just how important it is to understand who's making those decisions, what their positions are, and how to make our concerns heard. Whether you're passionate about hemp, education, healthcare, small businesses, or something entirely different, those issues deserve your attention.
You don't have to love politics to care about the decisions being made on your behalf.
Introducing Our West Virginia Hemp Voters Guide
One of the biggest things we've learned throughout this experience is just how difficult it can be to find clear information about where elected officials and candidates stand on specific issues.

We've spent countless hours reaching out to lawmakers, attending meetings, exchanging emails, making phone calls, and having conversations about the future of hemp and cannabis in West Virginia. Click here to check out our vlog during our D.C. experience! So we decided to put that information somewhere everyone could access it. We created the Moon Flower West Virginia Hemp Voters Guide. Our goal is to make it easier for West Virginians to explore candidates and elected officials, learn about their documented positions on hemp and cannabis, and see what interactions we've had with them.
The guide includes information about hemp, medical cannabis, and adult-use cannabis positions where available, along with candidate statements and records of communication. Because these conversations are ongoing, we'll keep updating it as new information becomes available.
We encourage you to explore the guide, review the information, ask questions, and do your own research.
This Is About More Than Moon Flower.
We started Moon Flower because we believed we could build something meaningful right here in West Virginia. Something that created jobs, supported our family, contributed to our community, and challenged outdated ideas about hemp and cannabis.
We still believe in that.
We also believe people deserve to understand how government decisions affect the businesses and communities around them. You don't have to own a hemp business to care about small businesses. You don't have to use hemp products to care about the farmers who grow them and the people who use them for their quality of life. And you don't have to agree with us on every issue to understand why these conversations matter.
We don't know exactly what the future holds for hemp. But we're going to keep showing up, asking questions, sharing information, and fighting for the business and community we've built. And we hope you'll stay informed, stay curious, and keep using your voice in whatever way matters most to you.
With love and a whole lot of Appalachian stubbornness,
The Moon Flower Family 🌸
